How do you install UV Solar Window Tinting Film?

To have any sort of film manufactures warranty you have to be a qualified or licensed installer. A certain amount of skill and product knowlege is required to ensure that the correct film is used for each application.

There has been many times where we have replaced window film because 'they thought they could do it' after seeing a professional install it. I wish i had a dollar for every time i heard someone say 'but it looked easy'. Sometimes its just best to leave it to the guys that do it all the time.

Why would I use Frosted Window Film around the home?

Blocks out vision but will allow natural light to pass through
It is more affordable than other window furnishings, such as blinds
Can be used in wet areas
Warranted against UV discolouration
Although designed for long term applications, this film can be removed.

What is UV Solar Window Film?

A micro-thin material which allows adequate sunlight with less heat and UV rays. When applied to the interior of your windows, the film acts as an "invisible shield" that rejects up to 80% of the sun's heat. In the summertime, your home is cooler and more comfortable

Will UV Solar Window Film reduce glare on my TV or on my computer monitor?

Yes. UV Solar Window Films dramatically reduce glare caused by sunlight on television screens and computer monitors.

Will Window Tinting my home give me privacy?

Yes and no. Window films that are mirrored or provide a dark finish to the glass give you privacy in your home or office during the day, however, as it becomes darker outside and lighter inside, the effect reverses creating visibility through the windows. The best example of this is any city area with high rise buildings. If you drive through the city during the day and look at all the office buildings, you usually cannot see in, but if you drive through the city at night you can see who is working and who is not.

Why would I want to tint my home or office?

Several reasons. The film we use is more efficient than any glass when referring to solar heat reduction and ultra-violet protection. The films can also give a home or office a more consistent appearance from outside along with providing privacy. Window films also help reduce glare on televisions and computer screens. Window films can make your home or office more efficient year round by keeping the heat in during the winter and out during the summer.

What about cleaning the film?

Window film is very easy to clean.The neutral usually biodegradable detergent option is cheaper, and safer on you, your hands and the environment. We recommend you use a soft cloth with a light spray of the diluted detergent onto the film. It is not recommended that glass cleaning products with ammonia and caustics in them are used to clean window film. These products can damage the film surface over time.

How long does Window Film take to dry once installed?

This largely depends on the amount of direct sunlight that strikes the window and the time of year. During summer on a west-facing window all moisture will evaporate away in about a week. During winter on a south or east-facing window the moisture may take a month or even longer to completely disappear.

Is the installation process messy?

No. The glass is cleaned with soapy water and a drop sheet is put down to collect any moisture.

Is there a difference in residential and commercial films versus automotive films?

Yes! Residential and commercial films are made to withstand a different set of conditions to automotive films. Most residential and commercial films are metalized, come with a lifetime or 10 year limited warranty against delamination and fading.

What is the turn around time?

If you decide to go with one of our popular films, generally a couple of days. One of the team members at CSI Install will give you an accurate time frame once the order has been placed. Some speciality films may take a couple of weeks.
